Greetings to all.
Carmen, thanks very much for letting us know about what happened a few
nights ago.
What you describe is a situation that seems a bit unsettling and odd.
It is good you contacted police and made report. But I do not think we or
any neighborhood or section should leave matters there. I think the
situation is a challenge to
us as neighbors to be more intentional
about looking out for one another. We may not all be best friends, but we
can make real
efforts to be good neighbors. Rosamond and I are fairly new here, so maybe
the ideas I suggest below have been considered and practiced before.
At any rate, allow me now to suggest the following for (re)consideration:
notify at least one neighbor if one of us is going to be away for an
extended period of time (and ask for and arrange appropriate support when
or where necessary);
take notice of (and report or raise questions of and about) unusual traffic
of persons and autos/trucks (on the property or parked on the street);
avoid leaving trash receptacles outside (not only in terms of the
aesthetics of the thing, but for reasons of security).
These are simply suggestions for intentional practices that may prove to be
helpful to all.
We should all continue to think of ways to keep what are beautiful living
spaces which we all enjoy safe and peaceful.
All the best of the season to all of you.
