Just now catching up on the situation in re: the fallen branch onto
neighbor's property, as reported by Maryanne.

I would think the first step needed is conversation with the neighbor.
Indicate you are aware of the situation, that you know what tree caused the
problem, that it is located in the alley.... And get confirmation that
there is no damage done. I hope your neighborly outreach would be noted.

As I understand the situation as described, with the tree located in the
alleyway--not on home property that is part of CP, or CP in general--I see
no responsibility on your part, Maryann, or CP, in general. This is my
assumption for now, with the info that has been passed along. But given
where the tree is located, with the possibility of it affecting us and
others, it may make sense to have that tree and surrounding trees looked at
by the arborist. (Not sure that that area was looked at earlier.) Seems we
need to make sure there is a really careful and comprehensive look at what
surrounds us. This means we will likely need to contact the arborist we've
already engaged and the City of Decatur about related matters, now
including what Maryanne reports this morning.
