Thanks ronald! I just went through the one hour phone gymnastics to actually get a live body at xfinity. She told me that they are sending a tech out tomorrow Sunday anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to fix the downed lines. She also said that if they don't have enough techs on duty tomorrow we could get pushed off even further. She suggested that if tech did not come out tomorrow, it is a good idea to call the city office to see if the city has better xfinity contact to get downed lines fixed. I will do this on Monday if no tech tomorrow. She also said it's a good idea to call Xfinity individually and to request a tech to come out to your house which I have done and I have an appointment on tuesday. I suspect that this will be a five to seven day process. I agree that we are likely to be without service for a number of days (because communications companies aren't accountable to anyone).

Just had a long talk with the ATT tech that came out this morning. He created a ticket for getting the main line fixed.  He said a new ticket will be made to restore service to the main line. Then new tickets will be made to restore individual service.  So we are looking at a minimum of 5 days and most likely longer for ATT.

We have had AT&T for years and never had any huge problems with them.  It would be nice if we could get fiber, but they won't run it into the cul-de-sac since it would require a new line and there are so few customers.  Even with fiber we get good speeds, and Dave is an IT professional working from home, so a very heavy user.

PS my carrier is Xfinity and I still have no internet phone or TV service. My guess is it will take them quite some time to fix it I don't know whom to call about it nobody picks up the phone there!

I think the city of Decatur was already on it before I did anything! A couple of years ago it took four or five days to get power restored because the city of Decatur and Georgia Power were arguing over which came first whether Decatur had to remove the tree or whether Georgia Power had to come out and turn off the power it was like Keystone Cops and extremely frustrating. I think the city manager remembered it and probably got on it before I even emailed her. By the way I sent her an email early this morning telling her how much we appreciated her efforts.

I heard from city manager at 11:30 last night that the tree was being removed from the street. And I know that electrical power was restored to our block sometime very early this morning. I do not believe that we have any internet or television if your contractor is Xfinity. It was amazingly quick work by the city and I thanked the city manager for their prompt attention to this manner and for their efforts. I am also not at home but we'll be back later this morning to check everything out!

Just heard from City manager's office that they cannot remove the tree until Georgia Power turns the power off. The city manager advised that the city is waiting to hear from Georgia power as to when they intend to do that. Once Georgia Power turns the power off then city of Decatur can remove the tree. I asked the city manager's office to let me know when they hear from Georgia power as to when they will shut off the power.

Typically when this has happened in the past Georgia Power always says they will not restore power until the tree is removed and the City of Decatur is not the most prompt agency when it comes to doing that. So if you don't see any trucks tomorrow morning I urge everybody in our units to call the city of Decatur and ask for the manager and ask that the tree be removed from the street because otherwise we will not have power restored.

Only damage I see right off the bat is the main circular lights we have at the entrance and I’m hopeful no damage to Mitsy’s stairs



Lots of power lines broken and damaged so be careful if you go out to look!
