Thanks for taking care of this Sara. I'm all for getting away from gas blowers so count me in on the battery model.
Mark

In meeting with Bray's estimator, Mike this morning, I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and most helpful in resolving several of the following needs for our exterior lights and the leaf blower:
1. The photosensor at #344 is definitely out and an estimate for replacement, minus cost of the unit will be provided to us.
2. There are two transformers (one at #406 and one at #410) for the low voltage garden lights. The transformer plug at #410 had been disconnected. Also, the photosensor had paint over the eye. After Mike removed the paint from the eye and connected it to the electrical box, three of the five lights came on. The wire had been cut between the first garden light nearest Drexel and the second one. An estimate for repair will be submitted.
3. Regarding installing receptacles at the globe exterior lights for the purpose of using an electrical blower, it would be counterproductive in doing so since there would be no electricity available during daylight hours due to the photosensor. I inquired about installing an electrical outlet at #344 for the purpose of having a plug-in photosensor. He strongly advised against it. He said our current sensor is much more reliable over the plug-ins as they are cheaply designed and have to be replaced much more often. The best I can recall, we've only replace the unit three times at the most - maybe two.
4. I asked Mike's advice about battery-operated leaf blowers over electrical and gas- operated leaf blowers. He said the battery-operated blowers are much more powerful than the electrical ones and are equally as powerful as gas ones, plus they are much quieter. I inquired about the battery life. Mike said they now have batteries on the market that will last from 4 hours up to 12 hours, which would amply service our needs during the leaf blowing season.
Given the information re. #4, I believe we definitely should purchase a battery-operated blower. If everyone is agreeable, I'll search the internet and provide several options.
Lastly, I've asked Mike to include the above information in his estimate.
Sara
