<div dir="auto">Let me stop you right there Vincent. At no time did I volunteer to take on anything more than to find out if Dekalb County was handling animal control for the city. I replied to your email of July 27th (Subject: Next Steps and Next Meeting) with the correction (see <a href="https://chelseaplacedecatur.com/pipermail/everyone/2024-July/001458.html" target="_blank">https://chelseaplacedecatur.com/pipermail/everyone/2024-July/001458.html</a>). If you made the assumption that I volunteered to take on the whole project and don’t remember that email and correction, then that’s your problem, nor is it one that you need to lecture me like you’re my father. You’re not and I won’t stand for it. The golden rule of leadership is “Praise in public, correct in private."<br>
<br>
I am not one of your students to be lectured in front of the class, nor did I accept any assignment. I can’t speak for anyone else at the meeting, but I know what I volunteered to do. As someone who has a bad tendency to make themselves physically ill to make sure that I complete what I have committed to, weather it’s work related or in any of the many organizations I have volunteered for over the decades, I am extremely offended at not only your assertion that I am not honoring my commitments, but treating me like a child.<br>
<br>
As you pointed out, we are all volunteers. Having been part of many volunteer organizations, some of which have 20,000+ members world wide with only 2 paid employees, it’s never a good idea to alienate your volunteers, especially when there’s such a small pool of them available.</div>

<div>Thanks for the contact info in re: Animal Control.</div>

<div>Your response raises for me a larger issue:</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Given our situation as an HOA--with the ongoing governance and maintenance and other work done by or through owners as volunteers (no one among us being paid to do anything!)--I had assumed and expected that since you volunteered at our last meeting to address the issue raised by Sara, you would follow through on the matter, with some consultation with Sara. If you prefer not to do so--okay; nothing I can do about your decision; but I had wanted this sort of matter to be addressed officially by the HOA by having more than one person involved to make sure steps were followed to some sort of resolution (if a resolution can be found). At this point, Sara will need to make the contact to provide information about the problem and report back on what she finds out. </div>
<div><br></div>
<div>The larger point behind the one I make above I know you as immediate past president will understand and appreciate--the amount of monthly fees we pay as owners will not allow CP HOA to hire a professional company to do all that needs to be done here to maintain this place, to keep it viable, attractive, and so forth. And no one officer should or can be responsible for personally taking care of all issues and problems. So <i>all</i> CP HOA owners must step up--to serve from time to time as an officer, and to volunteer again and again to take on certain assignments to make sure things are taken care of. (This is one of the issues I hope we can discuss at our next HOA meeting.) </div>
